English football fans have taken an innovative step to keep Tom Cleverley out of the England squad at the World Cup.

They have signed an online petition which says, Cleverley doesn’t possess “any genuine qualities whatsoever”

England manager Roy Hodgson has included Cleverley in the 30 member squad for an international friendly against Denmark next week.

The 24-year-old midfielder has performed below par through-out this season so far.

Manchester United fans had displayed their discontentment towards David Moyes for fielding the midfielder. It seems that the England supporters too are unimpressed by his vulnerable form.

The petition includes the following description:

Tom Cleverley, owner of 13 England caps, six more than Ross Barkley, Adam Lallana and Leon Osman combined, has been regularly selected by Roy Hodgson in his squads without possessing any genuine qualities whatsoever. We believe for the reputation of this proud footballing nation that he should be prevented from participating in this summer’s international showcase. Whilst England are considered to disappoint at major tournaments, further embarrassment could be avoided by not having his inept performances undermine the rest of the team’s efforts.

Until now, the petition has received 6358 signatures.
