Cleverley, then part of Manchester United, had made his debut in 2012 against Italy. He anchored the midfield but was substituted in the 61st minute for Jack Wilshire.

After spells at Everton and Aston Villa, the midfielder made a permanent switch to Watford ahead of the 2017-18 season. He has made 13 appearances for the national side.


Steven Gerrard

The captain of the England side in this friendly against Sweden, Gerrard was also substituted in the 74th minute for Tom Huddlestone. Gerrard went on to play 114 times for the English national team and retired in 2014.

He was recently appointed as manager of Scottish side, Rangers, his first managerial role.


Leon Osman
