English club Leyton Orient bans its players from playing FIFA 14 before matches

League One club Leyton Orient have forbidden its players from playing the newly released FIFA 14 due to the game affecting their performance on the pitch, Yahoo! Sport reports.

Orient currently lead England’s third tier of football and the want to keep it that way. The problems started after the club purchased a new bus which included a Playstation 3.

Jonny Davies, communications manager of Leyton Orient, recently published an article in The Independent which said, “The coach boasts a fold-out massage table, a coffee machine and Sky TV, but the most exciting thing for the players was a PlayStation 3. For the majority of the trip the lads, led by Lloyd James, got stuck into the new Fifa 14 game and at times even played as themselves against Oldham in preparation for the match the following day. The staff were quick to implement a “no Fifa on a matchday” rule, however. The gaffer suspects several hours playing football on a video game is not conducive to a good performance in the real thing.”

Orient remained unbeaten in the first eight matches of the season but consecutively drew two matches, one of which is the game against Oldham, since FIFA 14 came out.
