Ronald Koeman is bound to be a worried manager

Jordan Pickford - 5/10

The Everton goalkeeper perhaps should have done better with Antonio Valencia’s opener, even if it was a fierce strike from the right-back. His kicking was uncharacteristically poor and he looked shaky at other moments.

Cuco Martina - 7/10

Martina was Everton’s only competent performer in a woeful first-half display, the right wing-back providing speed and direct running down the flank. He was caught out defensively at times, but was still one of his side’s better players.

Michael Keane - 5/10

This was a very shaky showing from the former Manchester United defender, whose mistake led to a brilliant chance for Romelu Lukaku in the first period. Keane did improve as the game wore on, however.

Ashley Williams - 4/10

Williams will be keen to move on from this loss, in which he turned in a severely below-par performance. His passing was loose and his positioning questionable as Everton suffered a third defeat in a row.

Phil Jagielka - 6/10

The centre-back did a good job of covering for Williams and Keane when required, but he was guilty of sitting too deep at times.

Leighton Baines - 6/10

Baines was unable to provide an attacking threat down the left flank, but he generally did a decent job defensively at left wing-back.

Idrissa Gueye - 5/10

This was a surprisingly subdued display from Gueye, who is normally an energetic and dynamic presence in the centre of midfield. He and Morgan Schneiderlin were overrun by United in the engine room, while he failed to make a single interception.

Morgan Schneiderlin - 6/10

Schneiderlin had more touches of the ball than any Everton player, while he finished the encounter with a 94.2 per cent pass completion rate. Despite that, Schneiderlin did not always make the right decisions and struggled to prevent Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Juan Mata from creating.

Tom Davies - 7/10

Fielded in an unfamiliar inside forward role, Davies provided great energy and stamina as he looked to link midfield and attack. Wayne Rooney would have been isolated at the top of the pitch if it was not for Davies, who was probably his team’s best player on the day.

Wayne Rooney - 7/10

Sunday afternoon was a mixed bag for Rooney, returning to Old Trafford for the first time since his summer switch to Everton. United’s all-time record scorer was a little wasteful in front of goal, but his touches and passing in general play were more impressive.

Gylfi Sigurdsson 5/10

The former Swansea player found it tough to cope with a raging Manchester United and failed to impress. With not much to take away from the game, Sigurdsson seemingly refused to show up during last night's encounter.

Substitutes:

Sandro Ramirez - 6/10

The substitute showed some good touches on the ball, but he was unable to significantly affect the match.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin - 6/10

Calvert-Lewin made some dangerous runs during his short time on the pitch and probably should have been introduced by Ronald Koeman earlier.

Kevin Mirallas - N/A

The Belgian entered the fray late in the game and did not have enough time to
