EPL Transfer News: Riise all set for return to England

After having spent seven successful seasons with Liverpool in EPL, Norwegian left-back John Arne Riise is all set for a return to England with Fulham, reportedly acquiring his services after a fee was agreed between them and Roma.

Return to familiar pastures for Riise

John Arne Riise was a fan favourite at Liverpool and was pivotal to their success during his stint at the club. He won the Champions League, FA Cup and League Cup with the Reds. Few would remember that Riise almost joined Fulham in 2000 from Monaco, before switching his loyalties to Anfield.

Fulham boss Martin Jol is supposedly a big fan of the player and with Carlos Salcido, their Mexican full-back having bouts of nostalgia, a bid for Riise was imminent. With 30-year old Riise entering the final year of his contract, it was in the best interests of Roma to cash in on the player before he became a Bosman next season.

It would be a family reunion of sorts for Riise in London, as his younger brother, Bjorn Helge, currently plies his trade in Cottagers Park.
