Euro 2012 Final: Match Report - Spain vs Italy

Spain 4-0 Italy: (Silva 14′, Alba 39′, Torres 84′, Mata 87′)

Line Ups

Champ of the Match: Fernando Torres

El Nino didn’t start for La Roca tonight, but came on and was so influential in securing Spain’s Euro triumph. Was brought on in the 75th minute, and was involved in the action from the start, and with the Italians still with the chance of a comeback, Torres struck!

Xavi played a sliding pass and Torres slipped the ball to the left of Buffon, making it 3-0 to Italy. Then, to put the icing on the cake, Torres was played through, and unselfishly played the ball to Mata who put the ball into the empty net.

Because of this, Torres won the Golden Boot.

Chump of the Match: Antonio Cassano

Started up top with Balotelli, but failed to enhance Italy and was literally invisible during his time of playing in the game. Subbed at half time for doing nothing. No shots, and shouldn’t have started over Di Natale.

This match summed up his whole tournament.

Tweets of the Night

@archiert1 – By the way, the bad news for the rest of the world is that Alba’s going to Barca – so the best team in the world will be even better.

@CainJBennett – Di Natalie should’ve started over Cassano who’s had an awful tournament.

@JackooooReal_ – Been an extremely disappointing game so far, expected more from Italy with their recent form.

@Samuelj29060 – Oh, Xavi with another assist too. This is Xavi having an average tournament too. Incredible.
