Fulham’s Sascha Riether stamps Adnan Januzaj’s ankle.

The Football Association has charged Fulham’s Sascha Riether after he deliberately stamped Manchester United’s Adnan Januzaj on the ankle when the midfielder was on the ground near the corner flag in United’s 1-3 win at Craven Cottage.

The referee and linesman did not spot the incident, but the cameras did. The Fulham defender has until 6 PM on November 5 to respond to the charge.

Manchester United manager David Moyes has commented in the press that his new young midfield star requires more protection.

“Adnan is going to need a little bit of protection or we are going to find that he is getting kicked up and down. I do think he deserves a little bit more than he is getting at this present time.”

He also said, “We are just saying that somewhere along the line, people will need to let the boy, if he is going to keep playing in the fashion and style we want, he is going to have to get some protection from it. But we will never ask for any.”
