FC Barcelona have released a video on their social media handles which show five of their players model the new away kit for the 2016 – 2017 La Liga season. The Catalans were widely expected to launch the kit this week and have ensured that they sticked to the deadline by releasing the video that mirrors the launch of their home kit for the upcoming season.

Lionel Messi, Gerard Pique, Andres Iniesta, Neymar and Luis Suarez are seen sporting the new kit which is coloured purple this time along with pink indents. Even the Nike badge on the front is in pink as well as the number and name at the back – along with the Unicef logo.

A significant miss from the jersey – which was also the case when they launched the home jersey – is the lack of a shirt sponsor in the front of the jersey. Barcelona have had issues with Qatar Airways who decided to pull out of sponsoring the Catalan giants after a series of disagreements regarding renewal and fees.

The La Liga giants have since been on the lookout for a new title sponsor with the likes of Pepsi and McDonalds also linked in recent months. With a little less than a month to go before the regular season gets underway, the club are in a bit of a hurry to wrap things up as they also need the money to renew contracts for a few of their existing stars.

Sergio Busquets, Gerard Pique and Lionel Messi are reportedly ready to renegotiate a new contract with the club who will ensure that once the shirt sponsorship money is in, that they're able to renew these three contracts. After all, Barcelona cannot afford to lose any of the three aforementioned stars.
