Rooie Marck

Rooie Marck, 54, a Feyenoord fan got the greatest surprise of his life when he went to watch his side in the first practice session prepare for the start of next season.

Traditionally fans of the Dutch side come in numbers to watch the club’s first training session, but it was different this time.

Lifelong fan, Rooie Marck, had terminal cancer and only a few days to live, and his last wish was to see Feyenoord again before he died.

His friends brought him to the training session in his bed, but he was in for a surprise with the huge crowd turning up chanting his name, lighting flares and unraveling a huge banner of him.

An emotional, Rooie met the players before being helped by friends to meet the crowd, who sang ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone.’

Unfortunately, Rooie died just three days after the training session at Feyenoord, a couple of weeks ago. But the club and its fans fulfilled his dying wish.
