FIFA Bans Bin Hammam for Life from all Football Related Activities

Bin Hammam: A Disgraceful Fall

Much to the expectation of people and the man in question himself, Bin Hammam was on Saturday handed over a life-ban, from taking part in any national and international football related activities. The former AFC President has been found guilty of corruption, following a two-day hearing of FIFA’s ethics committee at the FIFA headquarters in Zurich.

“The official Mr Bin Hammam is hereby banned from taking part in any kind of football activity at national or international level for life,” said ethics committee deputy chairman Petrus Damaseb at FIFA headquarters.

Meanwhile Caribbean Football Union officials Debbie Minguell and Jason Sylvester, who are also investigated by the ethics committee, for their alleged involvement in helping out Hamman and Jack Warner were also handed out a year ban each.

The 62 years old Qatari had been accused of trying to bribe Caribbean football officials in exchange for a vote during his FIFA Presidential election campaign. He along with former CONCACAF President Jack Warner had been suspended from FIFA, just a day prior to the FIFA election for their alleged involvement in corruption.

However with the resignation of Jack Warner last month, all charges against him were dropped by FIFA and Hamman was left alone to face the wrath of Sepp Blatter lead FIFA.

Bin Hamman on the other hand was prepared for such judgement as a leak document was already doing the round that the former Asian Football Boss would be banned for life. He reiterated in his blog before the judgment which read “It seems likely that FIFA has already made its decision weeks ago. So none of us should be completely surprised if a guilty verdict is returned.”

He also maintained that he will take the case to higher courts to prove his innocence.
