French winger Franck Ribery said he refused to take a cortisone injection which was recommended by the French Medical team as he tries to race against time to make himself available for the World Cup.

Kevin Le Gall, the French national team doctor told journalists that the Bayern Munich winger was afraid of injections and hence was not given the mode of treatment to which the latter responded by saying, “I’m not afraid of injections. But I didn’t want to have a cortisone injection from the French doctor. I know it’s not good.”

Le Gall had earlier condemned Bayern Munich’s methods of treating Ribery’s injury since the team relied on giving injections to their players no matter whatever be the injury.

“Franck belongs to a club whose method of treatment for all ailments, whatever they might be, is based on injections”said Le Gall.

Ribery, who has scored 16 goals from 80 matches for France, was pivotal to their chances of winning the World Cup but he sustained a back injury just before the commencement of the World Cup and was forced to pull out of the tournament.
