I am finding it tough to fit into Louis van Gaal's style of play: Adnan Januzaj
The 19-year-old talks about wanting to play more games for Manchester United.
Manchester United winger Adnan Januzaj has said that he is finding it difficult to fit into Louis van Gaal’s scheme of things, but is putting in the hard yards in the training sessions in the hope that he would get to play more games for the club. The 19-year-old Belgian international has played just 14 games across all competitions this season and is yet to score a goal in those games.
“The system really can make it more difficult for me to play there but I have to keep working. That is what I am doing in training every day, as I want to get more games this season,” Januzaj said.
The winger was all set to move to French giants Paris Saint-Germain on loan, but van Gaal prevented him from doing so, as he felt every player in the United squad had an important role to play.
Finding it hard to play as a wing back: Januzaj
He added that he would prefer to play in more of a number 10 position and is finding it hard to play as a wing back as he isn't the strongest defensively.
“My favourite position is as a No 10 or a winger. There are lots of players here and I can play in different roles – it’s just a case of taking my opportunities.I’m not really a wing-back. It’s harder for me because there is more defending involved and I’m not really a defender,” he said.
Januzaj was given a five-year contract in October 2013, thanks to his impressive run during David Moyes’ unsuccessful time as the Red Devils’ manager. Talking about last season, the winger said that he got better as he played more and more games last season and insisted that he would continue to work had in the training sessions.
“Of course, last year I played a lot of games and every week I was feeling better and better. I’ve not been playing a lot this year but it’s okay I will try to work hard in training and out on the pitch,” the Belgian added.
