Rio de Janeiro, Jan 5 (IANS): Flamengo have made a bid to sign Argentina under-20 midfielder Lucas Romero. According to Lancenet news portal, the Rio de Janeiro-based club has offered a $ 3 million contract to the Velez Sarsfield striker.
However, Sarsfield have said that they will not settle for anything below $ 5 million.
Romero, who made his first-team debut for the Buenos Aires club as a 17-year-old in 2012, has also been linked to Brazilian Serie A champions, Cruzeiro.
Flamengo last week made their first signing of the season by announcing the arrival of forward Marcelo Cirino on a three-year deal from Atletico Paranaense.
