Kiev - Mykhail Fomenko will be the new coach of the Ukrainian national football team, the local media reported Wednesday.

All members of the executive committee of Ukraine’s Football Federation (FFU) voted unanimously for the 64-year-old, reports Xinhua.

Fomenko was formerly a standout defender for Dynamo Kiev and Soviet Union national team.

Fomenko’s last job was in football federation, where he served as chairman of the committee of national teams and head of the FFU coaching board.

The coaching post with the Ukrainian national squad became vacant on Sep 25 when former head coach Oleg Blokhin left to take charge of Dynamo Kiev.
