5 reasons why FIFA is better than PES

There is always a debate between which is the better game between the two most dominant sports video games EA Sports FIFA and Konamis PES. Every year a new release of the FIFA and PES franchise releases with a lot of enhancements from the previous versions of the game. Most of the fans who play both the games feel that EAs FIFA is way better than Konamis PES.Let us look at the 5 main reasons why FIFA games are always rated better than PES.

#5 Gameplay

EA’s FIFA and Konami’s PES have both had made significant advancements in the field of gameplay. FIFA 14 had real ball physics and also the ‘Pure Shot Mechanics’ which made the game look quite realistic and unpredictable. Konami too rivaled the enhancement by introducing the ‘True Ball Motion’ which made passing and shooting in PES 14 look realistic. In FIFA 14, when the game was played in rain, the defenders were prone to commit errors due to the slippery field whereas PES 14 never had rain in it. Adding to this, in PES it was difficult to handle a player whereas in FIFA handling a player looked quite simple.

#4 Online mode

The Online Mode is another factor that tilts the bragging rights in the favour of FIFA. The FIFA Ultimate Team is improving every year where a user can buy the best of players and create their own Ultimate Team. Konami had introduced the Master League Online but the Master League is not upto the mark when compared to the Ultimate Team. The gameplay and visuals of Master League is slightly better than that of Ultimate Team in FIFA but due to vast game modes in FIFA, FIFA is ultimately the winner in online mode.

#3 More number of teams and leagues

Konami’s PES has lesser number of leagues and also teams than FIFA. Moreover, the Career Mode in FIFA 14 is one part which FIFA dominates in the when compared to PES.

Although, European tournament such as UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League that are two prime selling points for PES are absent in FIFA. In fact, they have had to change the name of tournaments to Champions Cup’ and ‘European Cup’, respectively to avoid license issues.

#2 Visuals

The visuals in both the games are pretty impressive. FIFA’s graphics have been enhanced in it’s latest franchise FIFA 14 while PES 14 graphics are rated equally good. Although, the players graphic details in FIFA are almost as perfect as it gets. Meanwhile, PES still finds it difficult to get the player graphic details right on a consitent basis.

As far as the kits are concerned, PES wins the contest with ease. However, FIFA versions offer better crowd visuals, be it any stadium in the world.

#1 Licensing Rights

The licensing rights have always been a problem for PES. In most of the PES games we have seen fictitious club names such as Manchester Blue instead of Manchester City, London FC instead of Chelsea FC etc. PES 2014 also does not have Borussia Dortmund that remains one of the most preferred teams on the FIFA games. On the other hand PES’ competitor is fully licensed. The FIFA gaming franchise is affiliated to FIFA – the governing body of the game. In fact, FIFA games also have full access to international team licensing that allows them to develop FIFA World Cup video game series every four years.

If Konami does not find a way to get itself fully licensed then FIFA will be dominating for another few years in near future.
