Football, the ‘beautiful game’ is catching up in India and how. The recently concluded FIFA Under-17 World Cup confirmed that no other edition of the event had such a vast audience turning up to the grounds, terming the Indian sojourn a phenomenal success.

And success breeds success, as it’s said often. Amidst this backdrop, the Football Championship League or the FCL 2017 is back with its 3rd season, an initiative by The Sports Gurukul, Mumbai.

The vision of the league is to ensure that we encourage youngsters to play the game in its true essence. And should they be qualified enough to take it to the next level, they will be trained by well-known and experienced coaches and given constructive feedback by Mr. Antonio Lopez, the technical director and head coach of the Boca Juniors Football School, India. The best 25 players will get this opportunity as a part of the mega prize of the event.

The grand prize is that the player with the most talent and willpower will get an opportunity to train for a month at one of the Boca Juniors International Centres anywhere in the world, in an all-expense paid trip, thanks to the club.

The idea of it all is to create a competitive, yet positive environment for honing football skills, where everyone learns from each other to develop their techniques.

There will be 5 categories – Under-8, Under-10, Under-12, Under-14 and Under-16. 16 teams will be a part of each category, with 8 players in each team. Both individual and team performances matter. Participation matters as much as the victory when playing the game. So, there will be more prizes to be won.

Man of the match, team trophies, special recognition trophies and individual medals and certificates are up for grabs for the top 6 performing teams and their players.

Taking a cue from the FIFA World Cup, the best players across skills will also be rewarded with Golden Boot (the highest goal scorer), Golden Gloves (the best goalkeeper), Golden Ball (the best player) and the Golden Star (the most promising player). In addition to all this, there will be a trophy for the Best Coach as well.

With exciting team names and logos, extensive media coverage, an entire football kit and refreshment given to all players free of cost, the Football Championship League 2017 is a dream platform for every young football lover to begin their journey or harbor dreams of making it big in the sport.
