Marlon King was arrested in a hit and run case

Former Birmingham City striker Marlon King was detained and later released on bail, in a hit and run case. The incident occurred near London’s West End and the victim, a man, reportedly in the 40′s, is being treated for head injuries in a nearby hospital.

The Sun‘s sources say: “The guy was hit by a car, possibly a Mercedes, not far from Paddington station. He got a knock to the head but the driver didn’t stop to see if he was OK.

“The police were called pretty quickly.”

King, who was given a free transfer by Birmingham City hours before the incident took place, did not stop his car after the collision but the police chased and captured him at Lancaster gate.

A police spokesman said: “A 33-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of failing to stop at the scene of a road traffic collision and taken to a central London police station.”

In 2009, King was convicted of sexual assault and bodily harm, which led to his then-Wigan Athletic contract being terminated.
