Real Madrid secured a 2-0 victory against Roma last night

Zinedine Zidane’s side secured a 2-0 victory at home to ease through to the quarter-finals of the Champions League 4-0 on aggregate. However, Owen Hargreaves who has won the Champions League twice, once each with Manchester United and Bayern Munich was not too impressed with Real Madrid’s performance.

Goals from Cristiano Ronaldo and James Rodriguez secured a 2-0 victory over the Serie A side, though they struggled to secure the victory.

Edin Dzeko and Mohamed Salah were both guilty of missing glorious chances and the game could have taken a much different turn if either of them had scored and given Roma the initial lead.

Speaking to BT Sport, Hargreaves said:

“That performance won't scare anyone in the Champions League,

"Before you would have thought Real Madrid are one of the top teams but that was careless. They could have been down in that game but the only difference was they took their chances.

"Roma were so poor in front of goal, they should have scored at least one or maybe two goals."

Real Madrid will be eagerly waiting to find out who their quarter-finals opponent will be in the Champions League.

"There are days when things do not go for you, but we know that anything can happen in football, I believe all the fans want to see nice football and when things do not go for you, they have the right to whistle. We are at a club which makes demands of you every day, and we players are here for this.”
