Greater Manchester Police have confirmed that former Manchester United and current West Ham United midfielder Ravel Morrison has been charged for assaulting two women, one 19-year-old and the other 39 years old.
Morrison has been charged with a with a section 47 assault and two common assaults and is due to appear before the Manchester and Salford Magistrates' Court on 31 July 2014.
Manchester Police also state that they had been called to an address in Salford on the 27th after reports of the assaults, but the accused was arrested at a later date.
According to UK Law, the maximum punishment under section 47 assault (Assault occasioning bodily harm) is 5 years of imprisonment while a common assault carries a maximum punishment of six months and a fine.
This is not the first time the England U-21 international has been in trouble.
In early 2011, he received a year-long referral order and was fined £1,445 after admitting two counts of witness intimidation.
In February 2012, he was fined £7,000 by the FA after being involved in a controversy after posting a homophobic threat on Twitter.
After repeated offences and apparently showing no signs of straightening his ways, Manchester United sold him to West Ham United for £650,000 in 2012. He has since played for Birmingham and Queens Park Rangers on loan.
The 21-year-old was described as one of the best talents to have emerged from Manchester United’s academy and has won won four caps for England's Under 21 side.
