Gameweek 29 of the Premier League comprised of a few exciting fixtures. The weekend also saw Manchester City and Arsenal face each other in the Carabao Cup final.

The games did not fail to impress as there were quite a few thrills and spills. The race for the top four is still on with Manchester United, Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea, and Arsenal vying for three spots while City sit pretty at the top of the table.

This article takes a look at five teams that were outstanding in their displays over the weekend (League Cup included).

#5 Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham left it late and secure three points at Crystal Palace with an 88th-minute header from Harry Kane. The goal, which was the Englishman's 24th of the current premier league season, capped a good game for the London side who dominated the home side.

Mauricio Pochettino's side could have scored more if goalscorer Kane had taken his chances before his late strike.

Spurs have gone 15 games unbeaten in all competitions as their last defeat was a 4-1 loss to Manchester City in December last year.

This Crystal Palace win takes them to fourth in the Premier League table, two points clear of Chelsea.

#4 Manchester United

Manchester United v Chelsea - Premier League
United celebrate the winner against Chelsea

Manchester United came from behind to beat Chelsea by two goals to one at the Theater of Dreams. United were poor in the first half, with Chelsea controlling the game. The dominance led to the Blues scoring in the 32nd minute through a Willian effort. Lukaku levelled the game for Jose Mourinho's men in the 39th minute after a fine spell of passing around the penalty area.

In the second half, United improved the tempo of their passing and pressed Chelsea more. This led to United getting the winner in the 75th minute through a Jesse Lingard header inside the area.

United are currently 13 points behind Manchester City who have a game in hand. The win took them back to second place in the Premier League table after Liverpool momentarily went second following their win against West Ham on Saturday.

Manchester United have won three, lost one and drawn one of their last five games in all competitions.

United will go away to Crystal Palace for their next League game on the 5th of March.

#3 Brighton and Hove Albion

Chris Hughton’s men were on fire on Saturday when they defeated Welsh side Swansea City by four goals to one. Two goals from Glenn Murray and one from Anthony Knockaert gave them a three-goal lead inside 73 minutes. Lewis Dunk scored an own goal in the 85th minute, but Jurgen Locadia ensured they restored their three-goal lead in the 90th minute.

Brighton dominated this game with quality passes, starving their opponents of the opportunity to have a real go at the game. The win lifts them to 12th, four points above the relegation zone.

The victory also means that they are unbeaten in six games in all competitions, winning four and having two draws.

With 31 points, they are currently nine points shy of the 40 points that usually guarantees safety in the League. They will face Arsenal at home in their next Premier League game.

#2 Liverpool

Liverpool v West Ham United - Premier League
Liverpool v West Ham United - Premier League

Liverpool continued their fine form by thrashing West Ham by four goals to one. Jurgen Klopp’s men were three goals up courtesy of goals from Emre Can, Mohamed Salah, and Roberto Firmino. Michail Antonio got one back for the Hammers in the 59th minute, but Sadio Mane made it four for the Reds in the 77th minute to end West Ham's faint hopes of mounting a comeback.

The scoreline is a repeat of the first leg where Liverpool thrashed the Hammers by four goals to one at the London Stadium.

Liverpool did not only score goals, they also played beautiful football and dominated the game. The win means that the Reds are unbeaten in their last five games in all competitions, a sign that the departure of Phillipe Coutinho to Barcelona is not affecting them.

Liverpool are currently third in the Premier League table with 57 points and have one foot in the quarter-final of the UEFA Champions League after thrashing Portuguese side FC Porto by five goals to nil in the first leg in Portugal.

The Reds' next game will be against Newcastle United on the 3rd of March.

#1 Manchester City

Arsenal v Manchester City - Carabao Cup Final
Arsenal v Manchester City - Carabao Cup Final

Though this wasn't a league game, Manchester City's dominating performance against Arsenal in the final deserves a mention.

Goals from Sergio Aguero, Vincent Kompany, and David Silva ensured that Pep Guardiola won his first trophy as City coach.

The Citizens were terrific as the score suggests, outclassing the Gunners who looked ill-prepared. Guardiola's men had more possession and stifled Arsenal who barely had any openings on the night.

They are currently 13 points clear at the top of the Premier League with a game in hand against Arsenal and have one leg in the quarter-final of the UEFA Champions League after thrashing Basel by four goals to nothing in the first leg of the round of sixteen. With their current lead in the Premier League, it is almost safe to say that they will finish the current campaign with at least two titles.

The League Cup win is a reflection of Manchester City's fine form this season, and it also reflects the fact that Guardiola has settled in England after a poor first year.
