Tough times for Gareth Bale

Gareth Bale had a sensational debut season for Real Madrid after his high-profile move from Tottenham two seasons back for a transfer fee that was unheard of before – €100 million. However, a season later, the Welsh is now considered to be dropped from the starting line-up with almost 68.3% Real Madrid fans thinking so.

In a survey conduction by Spanish agency AS.com, a total of 8,532 supporters were asked if Bale should be retained in Carlo Ancelotti’s starting line-up, and the outcome was not very startling, to say the least as 68.3% of them voting to get him out of the starting berth.

Bale has been subject to a lot of criticism due to his poor run in form in 2015, and the aftermath of the 2-1 loss against Barcelona wasn’t any different for the Welshman. In the second half of the match, Bale had made only seven passes to his team-mates in total, with only two successful ones in the final 30 minutes of the match.

To put things into perspective, substitute Lucas Silva who had come on three minutes from full-time was successful in making four passes.

The former Tottenham Hotspur winger had a pass success rate of just 59% with zero-crosses and just 1 shot on target. To make the situation further worse, he didn’t even step into Barcelona’s area in the second half of the match.

Bale is already facing the hostility from fans as his car was attacked by irked fans following the El Clasico defeat with footage of fans jeering and abusing the Welsh and winger Jese Rodriguez who were on their way out of Madrid’s training ground at Valdebebas hours after the match.
