Welsh superstar Gareth Bale taken aback when two pitch invaders got a little too close to the new Real Madrid signing while he was warming up at half-time during his country’s World Cup qualifier against Macedonia on Friday.

The 24-year-old became the most expensive player in the world recently after signing for Spanish giants Real Madrid from Tottenham Hotspur, The Daily Mail reports.

Bale and his team-mate Adam Matthews were warming up on the field when two fans appeared out of the blue to meet the player.

Matthews, who is a midfielder for Scottish club Celtic, rushed to Bale’s aid and pacified the fans before the security staff stepped in and escorted the fans off the pitch.

The player will have to get used to such a reception wherever he goes since gaining superstar status of late.

Bale was benched for the entire match due to concerns over his match fitness, as Wales succumbed to a 2-1 defeat.
