Manchester United legend Gary Neville has claimed his former side must do everything they can to avoid embarrassment at the hands of free-scoring Liverpool on Sunday.

Neville, speaking to Sky Sports, suggested that the game against Liverpool is more important than the Champions League second leg vs Olympiakos.

United go into the match against Liverpool trailing their fierce rivals by 11 points. That could become 14 by full-time if they’re not careful and Neville is worried the Reds will score plenty more goals at Old Trafford. They are currently one of the highest scoring teams in Europe with 73 league goals – the most in the Premier League.

“For me, the game they are more likely to win is Olympiakos. It’s whether they can win it by the scoreline they desire.

“I disagree it’s the game with the most pressure. Manchester United fans locally probably don’t think they are going to go through.

“What Manchester United fans don’t want on Sunday or a week on Tuesday is embarrassment.

“They don’t want their biggest rivals historically and rivalry-wise to come into their own back yard and make them look as bad as they’ve been at times this season.

“For me, the danger games for Moyes and United are the two derby games against Liverpool and City. The Olympiakos game of course has a pressure to it, but I think they will win that match.

“Whether they can go through is the only question.”

Manchester United have only scored 18 goals at Old Trafford at home while Liverpool have scored 31 away from home.
