Pique was lucky to stay on the pitch

Gerard Pique is never shy of expressing his opinion especially when it is about Real Madrid. The Barcelona defender wasted no time in hitting out at his arch rivals after the referee made two errors in the game against Sevilla.

Pique himself was on the right side a referring error in against Villarreal on Sunday. He was accused of handling the ball while going in on a sliding challenge in an attempt to stop a counter attack.

The referee missed the incident and the defender was lucky to stay on the pitch. After the game, there were several accusations of officials showing partiality towards Barcelona during their La Liga matches, something that Pique did not find amusing.

In Real Madrid’s game last night the referee gave a penalty for a foul on Luka Modric which should not have been awarded. But Ronaldo missed his spot kick skying it over the bar.

He also disallowed a Kevin Gamiero goal for offside when the Sevilla striker was clearly level. But there was no line of questioning into those decisions like there was against Pique’s team, something that he didn’t let anyone forget.

The 29-year-old took to twitter writing this,”And now what?”. It was very clear what those remarks meant as he questioned the lack of opposition against the decisions in Madird’s game. Meanwhile, several people on social media voiced their discontent over Pique staying on the field.

The defender also had a row with a journalist named Pedro J Ramirez after these incidents unfolded.

Pique defends himself over red card debate

Referee Jose Maria Sanchez Martinez made a glaring mistake during the Villarreal-Barcelona match after Pique was not sent off for his handball in the first half. But he has come out to defend himself after claiming he should have never been booked for the first offense.

The defender received a yellow card for a handball after an attempt to tackle Denis Suarez but he said the punishment was not justified saying,”To begin with, the first yellow card was not fair, that ends the discussion. The ball hit me on the chest.”

Barcelona were held to a 2-2 draw after being 2-0 ahead in the first half. Villarreal were well worthy of their point after a spirited fightback in the second half. Luis Enrique’s men will have some time to reflect on their performance as we enter the international break before they host Real Madrid in La Liga two weeks from now
