Madrid, Dec 21 (IANS) Getafe coach Cosmin Contra commented that although it has been taken for granted that he will leave the Madrid based outfit to join Guangzhou R&F in the New Year, he is yet to sign a contract with the Chinese football club.
"Although the Chinese have advanced the news, nothing has been signed for the moment and there is nothing official," said the Romanian Saturday, reports Xinhua.
"I am still the coach of Getafe, I have a contract until 2016 and all I am thinking about is beating Granada (Sunday). If the contract is sorted out, then I am sure we will make the move. It is good for the club at this moment and it is also good for me. All the time I have been here, I have put the good of the club first," he insisted.
Contra joined Getafe towards the end of last season and helped the club avoid relegation, while this campaign they are relatively comfortable with a cushion of points above the drop zone and he confirmed that Getafe would receive a payment from Guangzhou for his departure.
"I am not leaving anyone in the lurch, just the opposite, it is a very difficult moment for the club and if I can help with that, why not?" he said.
