Giggs: Mata is the lift United need

Mata just the man United need

Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs has stated that bringing Juan Mata into the current league champions squad has lift everyone in training and feels that the Spanish international could go onto be a legend himself at Old Trafford.

Mata just the man United need

Juan Mata joined Manchester United in the January transfer window for a club record £37.1million, on a £140,000 a-week contract. Mata has featured in United’s last two fixtures against Cardiff City and Stoke City, notching up an assist in each.

Much praise has already been handed to Mata since joining the club, sounding like he is settling in well with both training and personal life up here in Manchester. Now, United legend Giggs feels he could become a great himself at the club.

Speaking with United’s official television channel MUTV, Giggs said:

“I think he could. He’s obviously got the talent.

“I don’t want to put too much pressure on him, but I don’t see why not. I think that coming here will help him with regards to playing for Spain as well, if he is playing week in and week out [for United].

“Spain have got a great side, so if we have a regular Spanish player within Manchester United, it will be great because they are such a good team at the moment.”

Giggs went on to add how that the arrival of Juan Mata has given the whole squad a boost, especially in training, he added:

“The players are just like the fans. When they see a quality player come through the door, it gives them that excitement and you feel it around training. It gives everybody a lift.

“He has fitted in well. Obviously, we’ve played against him for the last three years and know the quality he has got. He’s fitted in straight away and speaks really good English – better English than most of the lads.”

Manchester United’s next fixture is against Fulham at Old Trafford this coming Sunday afternoon.
