Paul Huia, has made history as the first player to play across the three disciplines of football at FIFA level after his showing in the recent FIFA Futsal World Cup in Thailand.
The South Pacific islander was in his country’s squad for the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in Brazil in 2006, where his team beat Cameroon 5-2.
Six years later, Huia made his debut during Brazil 2014 Football World Cup qualifying, by coming on as a substitute for injured first choice custodian Samson Koti in a 6-1 defeat to New Zealand.
His next stint with the team was in November 2012, when he traveled to Thailand for the FIFA Futsal World Cup. There he was part of the Solomon Islands’ team that secured a first ever victory, with a 4-3 triumph over Guatemala, creating history in the process.
