Over the weekend, Marca had reported that Real Madrid is scouting Ilkay Gundogan, hoping he would make a fine addition to the team this summer.

But Borussia Dortmund CEO Aki Watzke has dismissed rumors about the player’s move this transfer window, stating with confidence that the player would definitely be playing for the Bundesliga club in 2014.

According to the Spanish press, the midfielder’s agents had met with the La Liga club officials last Friday to discuss the nitty-gritties involved in the move.

The German international, who is currently under contract at Dortmund until 2015, was speculated to have put in a transfer request to join the Los Blancos.

Watzke also hinted that a new contract may be offered to Gundogan in the near future, which means that he will still be at Westfalenstadion come the start of the new season.

“If there were such talks we would know about them,” he told Kicker on Monday.

On a different note, Gundogan is hoping that the club will bring in a number of top-quality signings this summer.

“I am totally calm and absolutely sure we will sign a few good players,” he said. “If not by the first training session, then we will still have a bit of time after that.”

He also took time out to speak about the departure of Robert Lewandowski this season, saying that if the player was to leave then Dortmund “will react to it accordingly”.
