He destroyed Spurs: Tenacious wonderkid could join Manchester United

West Ham may be about to cash in on promising midfielder Ravel Morrison, in order to fund additions to their relegation hit squad. The Metro allege that the midfielder may return to former club Manchester United, should the Hammers decide to cash in. Sam Allardyce’s side currently sit in 18th place in the Premier League and have been plagued by injuries in recent weeks, prompting the Telegraph to suggest that they will cash in on Morrison.

Morrison’s transfer situation is complicated by a series of clauses in his Upton Park contract. West Ham paid an initial £650,000 for the talented midfielder, and must pay Manchester United a further £25,000 with each appearance that he makes. His contract is also believed to contain a release clause of £18 million, whilst a bid of £10 million or more will trigger a clause that will quadruple the 20 year old’s wages. Morrison currently earns £15,000 a week, but will see that rise to £60,000 if a club bids more than £10 million for his services.

However his contract does not contain a buy back clause, meaning that if United were to move for him then they would have to agree a fee with the London side for him. Morrison came through the ranks at Old Trafford and was once described by Sir Alex Ferguson as the best talent to come out of the club since Paul Scholes. However a string of disciplinary issues saw him shipped off to West Ham, via a loan spell at Birmingham.

Despite his previous problems, Morrison has cleaned up his act since his move to West Ham. Linked with an England call up there will be no shortage of suitors should West Ham decide to sell, with Fulham also linked with the youngster.
