Starting his career at his boyhood club Manchester United, Sir Bobby Charlton quickly became popular for how efficient and brilliant his attacking instincts were in the final third. Notably winning the World Cup with England in 1966, Charlton's goalscoring abilities became a worldwide phenomenon. His 758 appearances for the club saw him score 249 goals, a record he held until Wayne Rooney surpassed it in 2017.

Winning nine trophies for the club during his 23-year spell was perhaps his individual honors that really stole the headlines. Charlton won the Ballon d'Or once, won the FWA Footballer of the Year award once, and was named in the FIFA World Cup all-time team, amongst many others.

Striker: Wayne Rooney - 253 goals

Nearly every record Wayne Rooney broke, or nearly broke, is related to scoring goals in some way or another. The Manchester United legend only turned 35 last year, but his all-time 253-goal record is already looking difficult for another United player to break again. Joining the club in 2004, Rooney went on to win 16 trophies with Manchester United.

Rooney notably holds the record for the most Premier League goals scored by a single player for a single club (183). He has the all-time third-highest number of assists in the Premier League and is also England's youngest ever goalscorer.

Right-wing forward: Denis Law - 237 goals

Before he was bested by Wayne Rooney, Denis Law held the record for the second all-time highest goalscorer in the club's history. He scored 237 goals in just 404 appearances. Nicknamed Denis the Menace by opposing supporters, his goalscoring abilities were unparalleled. He still holds the famous United record for the most goals in a single season (46).

Winning only six trophies for Manchester United during his 11-year stint at the club, his individual honors and awards are more pronounced. The Ballon d'Or in 1964 and the European Cup top-scorer award in 1968-69 are just two of the many honors bestowed on one of Manchester United's biggest legends.
