Highlights: Marco Reus leads Borussia Dortmund to thrilling 3-2 win over Stuttgart

Marco Reus scored Borussia Dortmund’s third goal in their 3-2 win over Stuttgart

Borussia Dortmund moved further away from the relegation zone as they defeated bottom club Stuttgart 3-2 away from home.

Goals from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Ilkay Gundogan and Marco Reus helped offset goals from Florian Klein and Georg Niedermeier. The win sees Dortmund move up the table to 10th position in the league (subject to change after the weekend results) while Stuttgart remain rooted to the bottom of the table, four points away from safety.

The scoring was started in the 25th minute by Aubameyang, who had earlier seen an effort ruled out for offside. Immediately after his goal, Nuri Sahin was adjudged to have fouled Niedermeier inside the box, and Klein converted the penalty. Sahin was lucky as he could have been sent off for the offense, considering it was a clear goal-scoring opportunity.

Gundogan finished a lovely back-heel from Kagawa for the second goal, and the scoring was rounded off by Reus in the 89th minute, who finished calmly after pouncing on a poor backpass from Timo Baumgartl. Niedermeier scored Stuttgart’s second late in injury time to keep the scoreline respectable.

Here are the goals and highlights:

Stuttgart 0-1 Borussia Dortmund (Aubameyang, 25’)

Stuttgart 1-1 Borussia Dortmund (Klein, 32’)

Stuttgart 1-2 Borussia Dortmund (Gundogan, 39’)

Stuttgart 1-3 Borussia Dortmund (Reus, 89’)

Stuttgart 2-3 Borussia Dortmund (Niedermeier, 91’)
