Highlights: Netherlands comfortably defeat Spain 2-0 in international friendly

Stefan de Vrij scoring the Netherlands’ first goal against Spain

In what was the first encounter between Spain and Netherlands after the latter’s 5-1 win in their match at the 2014 FIFA World Cup, the Netherlands defeated Spain comfortably 2-0.

Goals from defender Stefan de Vrij and midfielder Davy Klaassen were enough for the Dutch to get a much-needed win in their friendly after their dismal run in the Euro 2016 qualifiers continued.

The first goal came in the 13th minute from a well-worked cross from the left from Memphis Depay as De Vrij headed wonderfully past goalkeeper David de Gea, leaving him with no chance at all.

The Oranje consolidated their lead in the 16th minute, as Davy Klaassen rammed home the rebound after De Gea had blocked his initial shot.

Watch the goals here:

Netherlands 1-0 Spain (De Vrij, 13’)

Netherlands 2-0 Spain (Klaassen, 18’)
