How Manchester United's Romelu Lukaku is up and running once again

Lukaku has not had the best of times with Manchester United this season. He was going through a rough patch of form under Mourinho mid-season and had managed only 6 goals until the North West Derby on 16 December 2018, which was Mourinho's last match in charge.

He had to wait for his chances under the new manager, Ole Gunnar Solksjaer, with a rampant Marcus Rashford scoring goals for fun ever since Jose was sacked.

However, injuries to Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard gave the big Belgian a chance to impress, and he has taken his opportunity and made the most of it. He has scored 4 goals in the last 2 games and is stating a case for his place in the first XI. His recent upturn in form will be giving Solksjaer selection headaches, with an important match against Paris Saint-Germain up next.

Ole Gunnar Solksjaer had transformed the likes of Paul Pogba and Marcus Rashford, but players like Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez were yet to impress. The Belgian seems to be the latest player to have received Ole's magic touch.

Romelu Lukaku is a natural target man who likes to use his physicality to disrupt defences, and his aerial ability to head in long balls, but he had been required to adapt under Solksjaer, as the tactics require him to be more fluid and less rigid with his build-up. Rashford's scintillating form put Lukaku on the bench for a couple of matches, but Big Rom was patient and has put in a good shift for United in the past week.

Lukaku was labelled a flat-track bully last season as he had an appalling record against "the big 6' in the Premier League. He has managed to score only 1 goal against the big 6 (Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham, Manchester City, and Liverpool) for United. Certainly, he would like to prove his critics wrong with a good showing against PSG, if he's given a chance to start.

For now, he will be hoping to continue his good run of form so he can aid his team in their bid to finish in the top 4.
