Indian Football: AIFF Announce Squad for England Tour; Bhaichung and Renedy Included

Bhaichung Bhutia: Coming Back

All India Football Federation on Wednesday announced a team of 32 probable’s for India’s tour of England where they will take on Pakistan in a three match series starting august 25. Dubbed ‘Clash of the Titans’, this will be the first football series between the two rival nations in a neutral venue.

The 32 probable’s for the tour is once again a mix of youth and experience including senior pro’s like Bhaichung Bhutia and Renedy Singh, who has been left out from India’s World Cup qualifiers campaign against UAE. With this, Coach Armando Colaco has kept his words of ‘not shutting the doors for seniors’ which he said when he over looked them for the World Cup Qualifiers.

However, these squads also have some surprise left out with Gouramangi Singh, Robert Lalthlamuana, Syed Rahim Nabi, Climax Lawrence and Clifford Miranda not making it to the squad. Probably, they are being rested as Colaco wants to try out with more set of players to have more options in future.

The tour is being organised by TouchSky Sports, a FIFA and UEFA Licensed Match and Player Agency. Mr. Ahmer Kunwar of TSS said: It gives me immense pleasure in organising this epoch-making tour. The tour would provide the Indian and Pakistani Nationals based in England to witness their native teams in action at the ‘Home of Football,’ England.”

Earlier Mr. Praful Patel, the President of the All India Football Federation echoed the same level of excitement saying, “Playing Pakistan is always special. It’s a positive sign that we will play a bilateral football series against Pakistan. I’m sure all sporting fans are eagerly looking forward to it.”
