Indian Football: Ranti Martin Extends Contract With Dempo SC

Ranti Martin

After over two months of uncertainty as to where the Dempo’s goal machine Ranti Martin would finally end up this season, the man himself put all speculation to rest on Monday when he confirmed that he would continue to stay with Dempo SC after agreeing personal terms with the club. However he would be moving to Europe if his agents there can reach an agreement with a German Div-II Club.

“I have decided to stay back in Goa although I am still hoping my agent can reach a deal (for me) in Germany with a second division club,” Ranti told a leading daily while enjoying the pre-season break back home in Nigeria.

Martin, the top scorer in the I-league with 30 goals has relentlessly been persuaded by East Bengal and Mohun Bagan. There were several reports in the Media claiming the two Kolkata giants fighting over each other to hijack the Nigerian footballer in the transfer market with lucrative offers.

Confirming the news, a Senior Dempo official told the Media that Ranti’s contract with the club has been extended for the same amount. “He spoke to us and agreed to extend his contract for the same amount that we had initially proposed. We have already sent him the contract which he will sign and return,” said the official.
