United could not collect all three points.

Manchester United were held back from all three points in Ruben Amorim's first time in charge of the side after a 1-1 draw against Ipswich Town in the Premier League on Sunday, October 24.

Coming off an impressive first win in the league over Tottenham Hotspur, Kieran McKenna made a solitary change to the side, with Wes Burns coming in for Ben Johnson.

Manchester United, meanwhile, were in Amorim's expected back three as Alejandro Garnacho, Christian Eriksen, and Jonny Evans all came in for Rasmus Hojlund, Manuel Ugarte, and Lisandro Martinez.

It was the perfect start for the visitors as Marcus Rashford handed them the lead inside two minutes. He made a good run to latch onto Amad Diallo's cross and tap home from close range.

The two sides then had a few chances to add to the scoreline but it was the hosts that finally found the back of the net. A splendid strike from Omari Hutchinson took a slight deflection off Noussair Mazraoui before finding the top corner, levelling the scores.

The second half was more of the same but neither side showed the clinicality needed to find the result. Onana was called into action multiple times as Manchester United failed to deal with the Tractor Boys' threat.

The result means United are now 12th in the league, finding themselves six points off the top four. Ipswich, meanwhile, are still in the relegation zone but their performances may indicate they are capable of escaping the drop. Here are the player ratings:

Manchester United Player Ratings

Andre Onana - 7.5/10

A splendid performance from the Cameroon international who continues to be one of Manchester United's best players this season. He made five saves in all including two crucial stops in the second half as Ipswich regularly threatened to score.

Ad

Noussair Mazraoui - 6.5/10

Yet another show of versatility from Mazraoui who has been used in various positions this season. Playing on the right side of a back three, he looked good going forward while also defending well.

Matthijs de Ligt - 6/10

A decent performance from the Dutchman in the heart of Manchester United's defense. His ability on the ball was on display as he looked comfortable in the new manager's setup.

Ad

Jonny Evans - 5/10

While he has performed well at times, Evans was arguably the poorest of United's defenders. He found it difficult to deal with Ipswich's pace and was hooked just before the hour mark.

Amad Diallo - 6.5/10

He had his moments going forward in the make-shift right wing-back role and provided the assist for the side's goal. However, questions remain over his suitability there as he was out of position at times.

Ad

Casemiro - 5/10

Earned the start over Ugarte but had a poor display. He seemed lethargic on the ball and was rightfully taken off alongside Evans.

Christian Eriksen - 5.5/10

A largely silent outing from the Danish international, who had his few moments of creativity but could not find the right pass to unlock the Ipswich defence. Similar to other players, his fit in Amorim's new system remains in question.

Ad

Diogo Dalot - 5/10

Most of Ipswich's attacking threat came down United's left as Hutchinson and Burns combined well against Dalot. He was defensively ordinary and couldn't do much on the ball either.

Bruno Fernandes - 5.5/10

Similar to Eriksen, he had a few sparks but was largely kept silent throughout the affair. He finished with three chances created and five accurate long balls.

Alejandro Garnacho - 5/10

Garnacho's problem of being wasteful in front of goal continues to trouble Manchester United. The winger missed another big chance on the night and his indecision in the final third continues to prove costly.

Ad

Marcus Rashford - 6/10

He made a good run to score Manchester United's goal but didn't do much apart from that.

Substitutes

Luke Shaw - 6/10

A solid half-hour and was a clear upgrade over Evans at the left side of defense.

Manuel Ugarte - 6/10

Similar to Shaw, he outperformed the player he replaced, providing energy, and incentive in midfield.

Joshua Zirkzee - 5/10

A frustrating cameo saw Zirkzee fail to link up with his teammates properly. He was also slow on the ball and was largely ineffective.

Ad

Rasmus Hojlund - 5.5/10

He had just eight touches after coming on for the last 20 minutes, barely influencing the game.

Mason Mount - N/A

He came on too late and did not play enough minutes to merit a rating.
