There have been numerous rumors doing the rounds today, including at Sky Sports, that Chile forward Alexis Sanchez could make a sensation return to his former club Arsenal. However, considering the current situation that both the clubs are in, is this move a possibility?

After leaving Barcelona a few seasons ago, Sanchez became the central figure at Arsenal. Both the player and the club excelled during that phase, as Sanchez became a popular figure in the Premier League. However, the Chilean soon got frustrated as the form of the club decreased gradually.

Hence, last January, Alexis Sanchez sealed a record move to Manchester United, where he became the club's highest paid player.

It has been more than one year since Sanchez became a Red Devil, but the former Barcelona man is yet to come into his own. He has scored just a handful of goals and has not made an impact like he used to do during his Arsenal days.

Injuries have troubled him too, and French forward Anthony Martial is now the preferred left-winger for the club.

During Manchester United's defeat to PSG in the Champions League, Sanchez was on the field for 45 minutes but could not make an impact from the left-hand side. Hence, there has been talk of Sanchez's next destination, and Arsenal seem to be a rumored club to welcome Sanchez back.

Arsenal are in a shambles right now, enduring a dismal run of form. Their attack has stopped firing and the defense is leaking far too many goals. Hence, a few quality recruits are needed to put the club back on track in the upcoming transfer window.

On the other hand, despite the loss against PSG, Manchester United are in a fairly strong state. They are expected to finish higher than Arsenal this season, and will look to improve in the coming days.

With Martial and Lingard out for the next two weeks, Sanchez will have full game time, and this could decide his future at the club. He is just short of consistent game time, and the Chilean could easily find his form in the upcoming days.

Sanchez wasn't particularly happy at Arsenal in his last few months there, and with the club being in a similar position now, it is highly unlikely that he would make a return. Moreover, there are a number of suitors for him across Europe, and the Chilean has a better chance of finding back his form by moving away from England.
