ISL 2017: 5 former ATK Star players who are playing for other ISL teams this season

ATK are one of those teams who have had a near-perfect start to their ISL journey, by wining two of the three editions. Based out of the Mecca of Indian football,Kolkata, the stakes were always high for Kolkata to perform well. They were also the first Indian team whose shares were owned by a high profile European club, even though the deal with Atletico Madrid fell off this year.

They have undergone whole-sale changes in the dynamics of the team, along with their name. This year is something like a complete new beginning for the Kolkata-based franchise.

With ATK opting for English flavour this season and parting ways with their tired and tested Spanish style, we also have a bunch of new faces in the Kolkata set up.

In this article, we take a look at some ex-ATK players, who are now with different ISL teams.

Iain Hume

The Canadian, who has lit the ISL on fire, is one of ATK’s best performers. Having played for them for two seasons and helping them win the title once, Hume was one of the most important players to feature for ATK.

With around 30 appearances and 18 goals for ATK, Iain Hume is clearly the best striker till date to play for the Kolkata-based club, statistically speaking. This season though, Hume will playing for Kerala, the team that bought him to India.

Doutie was one of those players whom former coach Antonio Habbas bought, after having seen him play in South Africa for Bidvest Wits. This South African winger has been a fireball from the 2015 season. He has always been a player to watch out for, ever since stepping foot in India. His darting runs and crucial passes have been critical in helping ATK win the third edition of the ISL. He has 5 goals from 26 appearances for ATK.

This season Sameehg Doutie is going to play for newbies Jamshedpur FC. He was high up on the wish list of Jamshedpur coach Steve Coppell.

Tiri

José Luis Espinosa Arroyo, better known as Tiri is a Spanish defender who came to India after his parent club Atletico Madrid B sent him on a loan move. Tiri became an instant hit in Kolkata after forming a formidable partnership with Arnab Mondal. His strength at the back helped ATK win its second ISL title in the third season. Tiri, in total, has 24 apps for ATK during his two season spell in Kolkata.

This season Tiri will be playing for newbies Jamshedpur FC.

Lalrindika Ralte

The former East Bengal captain was one of the most influential players for ATK during its third season in which they eventually went on to be champions. Dika was used very cleverly by coach Jose Molina, who used Dika’s versatility very well by deploying him on the flanks, and down the middle, depending on the situation. Dika played 13 games for ATK, scoring once, and providing numerous assists.

He will be seen playing for North East United FC this season.

The Indian national team's first choice right-back was picked by ATK for the third season of the ISL after spending two years at FC Pune City. The right-back is known for his cool composure and stability, which makes him an ideal choice as a right back for any team. This former Mohun Bagan player has played 13 games for ATK, and has helped them keep clean sheets along with provided ample support to Doutie on the right flank.

This season, Pritam will be seen playing for the Delhi Dynamos, and will also be the captain of the side, as per reports.
