ISL 2017 : No pressure from the management, insists ATK coach Teddy Sheringham

ATK have had a poor start to the 2017/18 season

Having failed to win their opening four games this season, ATK now face a daunting task in Sunday's crunch ISL encounter. The Kolkata giants will be up against an in-form Mumbai outfit who have won both their home games this season and are itching to make it three in a row.

ATK coach Teddy Sheringham admits that the pressure is well and truly on his side but reckons they only have themselves to blame for their failures.

"We're at the bottom of the table and that results in a little pressure. We've cause our own problems in previous games, something that we have to rectify. We never believed when we conceded three goals( against Chennaiyin)," he said.

ATK happens to be only the second club that the Manchester United legend has managed in his career. Teddy began his coaching career in 2015 and is slowly but steadily realising the not so pretty aspects about this job.

Asked if there has been pressure from the management, Sheringham replied in the negative stating that everyone around him as been supportive.

"No, we talk after every game with the management and they have been very supportive. They've seen the way we've attacked games and could have win with some luck. We've taken the game to every team we've played against. The confidence is not short, it's just that we're conceding silly goals including two deflected goals which doesn't help," he said.

Asked if there's anything specific he'd like to change about this ATK outfit, Teddy pointed to the fact that his side have not been defending as a team and opposition sides have found it easy to pick them apart as a result.

"If you've lost two and drawn two games, you're obviously going to be looking at your defensive qualities. I don't want to blame anyone but if you leave your goalkeeper open and your full backs open, then it's something to do with the whole team. We have to defend as a team," he explained.
