Alex Iwobi’s performances have attracted interest from the top European clubs

Arsenal football club striker Alex Iwobi’s father, Chuka recently stated in an interview with AfricanFootball.com that his son has no interest in joining Spanish club FC Barcelona.

The 20-year-old Nigeria international has been impressive for the Gunners in the English Premier League after making his first team debut last season. The youngster is consistently being picked by Arsene Wenger to play for the Gunners even in the big games. The youngster definitely has the talent to attract top European clubs like Barcelona in the future with their lucrative deals, if he continues displaying his massive talent.

Iwobi’s father strongly believes that staying at Arsenal would be a better decision for the striker/winger and that his son will continue focusing on developing his talent by staying at the Emirates Stadium.

"At this point in time, he is at the right place," Chuka Iwobi, said. "He's doing well at Arsenal, but should any club come for him now; the answer would certainly be no.”

The 20-year-old has caught the attention of many football pundits after a string of fine performances in the league.

Chuka Iwobi believes that his primary responsibility is to stay at one club and develop as a player instead of jumping over to a club that offers a lot more money. Iwobi’s father has assured fans that his son will remain at Arsenal and concentrate on his career.

"For him now, it's not about the money. So, should a club like Barcelona come with more money, he will certainly stay back at Arsenal because now it is not about him making money, it's about him concentrating on his career, progressing and going on to the next stage."

Chuka also spoke of his son’s humility and how important it is for Alex to gain the respect of his teammates and not become arrogant about his progress like most young footballers do.

"He has broken into the first team and what they all talk about is his humility. Personally, that's very important because when a player starts getting arrogant, that's when the player fails. I see him being with Arsenal for very many, many years."

Iwobi, who is contracted to Arsenal until 2020, has made 22 appearances in the Premier League for the Gunners contributing two goals and five assists. The Gunners have remained unbeaten in their last ten Premier League games having lost the opening game of their season to Liverpool.
