Jackson Martinez admits he would welcome Arsenal move

Porto striker Jackson Martinez has revealed that he cheered for Arsenal as a child and admitted that he would not turn down a move to The Emirates.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is in the market for strikers this summer, in order to provide competition and back-up for Olivier Giroud and The Express believe that the Frenchman is willing to pay the £35 million required to spring Martinez’s release clause.

Currently at the World Cup with Colombia, where he has scored twice in three appearances, Martinez admitted to reporters that he is unsure as to where he will be playing his football next season.

He conceded that discussions over his future had already taken place, but said that he is letting his agent deal with his future until after the World Cup, whereColombia’s 2-0 win over Uruguay means that they will face Brazil in the quarter finals.

“I know that there have been discussions, but still no agreements,” said Martinez on his future.

“My agent is taking care of my future, right now I’m at the World Cup and only after the World Cup I’ll evaluate proposals.”

The 27-year-old striker continued by admitting that he would relish a move to Arsenal, revealing his childhood support for the Gunners.

“As a child I cheered for Arsenal, they play a game that suits me. If I had the occasion to play there, I would say yes.” Martinez scored 20 league goals last season.
