Jackson Martinez: I'm an Arsenal fan and would love to play for them

Club Atletico de Madrid v FC Porto - UEFA Champions League

Sign him up, Arsene!

Porto’s Colombian hit-man Jackson Martinez has expressed his desire to move to Arsenal, stating that he has been a childhood admirer of the Gunners.

Arsenal have long been linked with a host of strikers across Europe, with Martinez also been linked previously on numerous occasions, to help Olivier Giroud, Arsenal’s lone striker currently in the squad. With Arsene Wenger not keeping it a secret that he’s on the lookout for a striker, here’s what Martinez had to say:

“I cheered for Arsenal when I was a kid – I love their style of play.

“It’s flowing and open with a lot of first touch passes. It would be suitable for a player like me. If I get a chance to play for a high level club like Arsenal I wouldn’t hesitate to accept it.”

The striker has been in superb form since his arrival at Porto and is expected to depart in the near future after he declined to sign a new contract with the Portuguese giants and a £30 million bid would be sufficient to prize him away.
