What's the news?

Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jadon Sancho has just beaten Vinicius Jr. and Callum Hudson-Odoi to win the Goal NxGn 2019 award, which makes him the best teenage footballing talent in the world.

In case you didn't know..

The 18-year-old English International, who has represented England at the U16, U17, and U19 level and the senior squad last year, has repaid the faith Dortmund showed in him by splendid performances for the German club this season.

Sancho was a squad rotation player in the last season, occasionally coming off the bench, but the attacker has been a first-team player for Dortmund at the mere age of 18, and that has resulted in him achieving this feat of winning the Goal NxGn 2019.

The heart of the matter

Goal.com publishes a 50 player shortlist every year where they rank the top 50 teenage sensations in world football, and the 2019 list was declared a few hours ago, with Jadon Sancho topping it

Real Madrid's new signing this season, Vinicius Jr. has been named second behind Sancho after him taking on the challenge of filling in Cristiano Ronaldo's boots on the left wing. And while the Brazilian might not have perfectly done it, he has won the hearts of Los Blancos fans.

Third on the list is Chelsea's academy product Callum Hudson-Odoi, who has impressed the whole of Europe even in the irregular match time given by manager Maurizio Sarri.

Manchester City Phil Foden comes next on the list, and rightly so, as Pep Guardiola has a lot of faith in the young lad.

What's next?

What is interesting about the 50 player list is the fact that it contains 7 English players, and more specifically 6 of them are from the Under 17 World Cup 2017 winning team, when the tournament was held in India 2 years ago.

The future surely looks bright for the Three Lions.
