Trinidad and Tobago striker Kenwyne Jones fired a hat-trick as Stoke defeated League One side Walsall 3-1 at the Britannia Stadium to advance in the Capital One Cup.

Jones put Stoke in the lead in the 22nd minute Thursday, cutting inside and firing home after Walsall had squandered possession, reports CMC.

It was his first goal since January, and the Trinidad and Tobago striker scored again nine minutes later, rifling into the net from close range after the ball had dropped at his feet from a corner.

Walsall pulled one back through Ashley Hemmings’ 57th-minute strike.

But Jones settled the tie by completing his ha-trick in the 84th minute, racing on to a through-ball and finishing clinically.
