Rumour: Jordy Clasie targeted by Louis van Gaal as Manchester United tramsformation begins

Manchester United are thought to be eyeing Feyenoord’s young star Jordy Clasie, as Louis van Gaal plans a summer overhaul of the squad following the announcement that he’ll take over after the World Cup.

Louis van Gaal was announced as the new Man United manager today and is already looking at potential signings. Clasie, who assisted Robin van Persie’s opening goal against Ecuador at the weekend, is set to head to Brazil with the national squad.

He has impressed a lot in the Eredivisie with Feyenoord and van Gaal could be tempted to bring him to Old Trafford next season, reports Manchester Evening News, as he plans a big summer of change at the club.

Van Persie said: “That pass made the goal possible. That was a world-class ball. That pass gave me the opportunity to do my thing. I think that pass was more beautiful than my goal.

“The only thing I had to do was control the ball and score. That pass from Clasie was world class.”

A creative midfielder who could play slightly deeper is what United could be lacking but with the presence of Wayne Rooney, Juan Mata, Adnan Januzaj and Shinji Kagawa, his chances would be slim.Van Persie missed 17 games of the season through injury but still converted 26.1% of his chances.
