Jose Mourinho is set to replace Mauricio Pochettinno as Tottenham Hotspur manager after the Argentine tactician was sacked by the club on Tuesday evening.

The Special One ready for Premier League return

Pochettino, who was appointed by the north London outfit in 2014, consistently guided the club to top-four finishes in the Premier League and oversaw their incredible journey to the Champions League final last season.

The 47-year-old, however, failed to replicate the success of his previous campaigns in the new season, taking only 14 points from 12 matches in the English top-flight.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Mourinho has been chosen as the man to succeed Pochettino, with his agents reportedly in the final stages of his contract agreement with the club.

The Portuguese manager has been out of the managerial spotlight since he was sacked by Manchester United in December last year and has been working as a pundit on Sky Sports while awaiting the chance to return to the touchline.

The former Red Devils manager will soon meet with Spurs chairman, Daniel Levy, to sign his contract and an announcement will likely be made on Wednesday.

Tottenham currently sit 14th in the Premier League after winning only three of their 12 games in the domestic competition. They will return to action against West Ham United on Saturday.
