Rumoured Arsenal and Everton target Josip Drmic could be available for a summer transfer regardless of whether his current club Nurnberg avoid relegation this season.

It had been reported that Swiss attacker has a clause in his contract allowing him to leave for €3.5million should the German club be demoted from the Bundesliga at the end of the campaign, but he will still be available at a reasonable price should they beat the drop.

The 21-year-old striker still has three years to run on his current deal with Nurnberg, but Bundesliga expert Rafael Honigstein believes that he could still be available for transfer for as little as €7m, regardless whether the club stays in the top flight or not, while Jan Aage Fjortoft believes that he has already settled on a move to Arsenal.

Honigstein wrote for BT Sport, “As a young and relatively cheap option – Drmic would probably be allowed to leave for a fee in the region of €7m if the club stay up.

“The striker fits the bill as an understudy to Olivier Giroud and his experience on either flank would be appreciated by the Gunners.”

Honigstein did, however, warn that reported interest in Drmic could be a ruse by the player’s agent to force a bidding war between Bundesliga clubs, with several big sides on the lookout for striking reinforcements.

“There’s also the less sensational possibility that someone briefed about the alleged enquiry from Arsene Wenger to push the Bundesliga clubs into making an offer.

“Drmic is being advised by the same agency who look after Marco Reus and Bayern Munich’s Toni Kroos and Mario Gotze.

“It’s fair to say that they know how to play this game, just as well as their clients do.”

Josip Drmic has scored 15 goals in 26 appearances for Nurnberg this season, converting 33.3% of his shots on goal.
