Jurgen Klopp to stay at Borussia Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund v Malaga - UEFA Champions League Quarter Final

Borussia Dortmund manager Jurgen Klopp has insisted that he will stay at the club, despite being strongly linked with a move to Real Madrid.

Real Madrid have had an average season thus far, and only a Champions League trophy would satisfy the highly demanding fans of the club. With Jose Mourinho flirting with a chance to return to the Premier League next season, few prominent names have been suggested to take over the reins at the Bernabeu.

However, the 45-year old former Mainz 05 manager said that he is happy at the Bundesliga club, and would not be moving any time soon.

“I will be the coach of Borussia next season, unless I do something bad and they decide to sack me,” he said.

“Next term I will coach Borussia. I have nothing more to say apart from to add that if people are mentioning me when they talk about who will replace Mou then that is a big honour for me. A true honour.

“It is better that they say they would like Klopp than if they said that they would like anyone except Klopp. But, just to say again, I will be stay with Borussia, for sure.”

Last year’s Bundesliga champions will welcome Real Madrid on 24th April for the highly anticipated Champions League semifinal, and Klopp revealed that he would be interested in knowing more about The Special One’s immediate career plan.

“I am going to ask Mourinho what he will do next season when he comes here though.”

Meanwhile, club captain Sebastian Kehl has agreed to a one-year contract extension on his current deal that was set to expire at the end of this season. The 33-year old former German international, who signed for Dortmund back in 2002, told reporters:

“The club, the team, the fans and the city have long become my home. I am happy that, at least until 2014, I will be part of this sensational club and be allowed as captain to continue making history.”
