Kick starting a new era requires patience from Liverpool supporters

There have been some false revolutions at Anfield in recent years, burdened with the high expectations of the supporters. This one is supposed to be different, people were ready to wait this time, ready to wait for Brendan Rodgers to mark his stamp at Anfield, the opening day of the season should not change that.

Everyone from the supporters to the media appreciated the decision of the club to make BR our manager, a modern day forward thinking manager with great potential. Everything Brendan Rodgers has done since been appointed has been nothing but positive. He has a clear vision of what he wants to do, he has been brilliant with the supporters instilling confidence with his words, performances against Gomel and Bayer Leverkusen exhibited the tiki-taka style of play which he is working towards. The signs are there, all that is required from our side is patience and support.

The opening day result is embarrassing to say the least and the road ahead looks even more tough. We face the top 3 sides of last season in our next 4 matches. I am not saying we don’t have any chance of getting results from those fixtures, but we should be ready for the worst.

The system of football that is being implemented at Anfield requires a lot of hard work and time, but when perfected, it will be a treat to watch and the results will come too.

What is really troubling me is the knee jerk reaction people will have if we are without a single win in our first 5 matches. Media will have a field time, rival fans’ will be ready with their taunts and the worst part would be us supporters giving in and then start criticizing the entire project. That will provide nothing but instability and added pressure to the team.

This is why I am saying patience has to be our biggest strength. I know it is difficult to see our beloved team get bad results but when everything starts coming together, that feeling of happiness will be something I can’t describe in words.

Let’s hope we have a good next month but if we don’t, no need to lose hope. The most important part will be us sticking together, so we will chin up and do what we do best. Cheer for the most beautiful club in the world, our beloved LIVERPOOL FC.

Everything will be alright, Our Liverpool Will Never Walk Alone.
