Kim Kallstrom reveals talks with Arsene Wenger over staying with Arsenal

Spartak Moscow’s Kim Kallstrom has refused to rule out the possibility of returning to Arsenal next season.

The Swede became the subject of controversy when Arsene Wenger, while under pressure from fans and critics to sign a forward in January, instead elected to bring in a central midfielder who later turned out to have been injured when taken on loan from the Russian club.

Kallstrom made only three league appearances and played 130 minutes for Arsenal during his half season at the Emirates, though remained positive when reflecting on his time with the club. The 31-year-old even revealed the slight possibility of a return, writes the Express.

“We talked a lot, but of course it stays between us,” Kallstrom told fotbollskanalen.se.

“They were very happy with my performance and what I was there to do so it felt good.”

“We’ll see. It was a very good experience, but you’ve been in this business as long as I have so I think we’ll have to see what happens.

“I have a year left on my contract in Russia, so it is what it is now until something else happens”

“Everyone knows that now is a period in which a lot can happen and the last word has not been spoken yet.

“I was an Arsenal player until last June. But Spartak’s a very nice club and I enjoyed working there so it will be a continuation , which is a very good option too.”

Wenger is reportedly keen to make addressing the Gunners’ problems up front a priority, however, and Arsenal were just yesterday linked with a £24 million move for Benfica forward Rodrigo.
